Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has again warned all prospective candidates against double or more entries for direct entry and Unifi ed Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for foreign centres. JAMB in a statement yesterday by its Head of Information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, said that multiple registration was being viewed by the boards “a serious off ence in the process of obtaining the Board’s application form be it UTME or the DE currently on sale. Our advertisement for 2017 UTME clearly states the penalty for any candidate caught buying two fi rms.” Th e statement stated that any candidate who indulged in double registration, would be caught by the software installed by the board and would be disqualifi ed.

“Th is information is necessary for the public to know so that when such candidates are sanctioned, it will be understood. Th e Board is not interested in the candidates’ money as being insinuated by certain groups who suggested that such registration will enhance the revenue base of the Board. “No, we are more interested in the sanctity of the examination and not the money. If money is our concern, we would not be returning over N5 billion to federal government coff ers.”

Th e Board said over N5 billion had been saved for the federal government in the 40 years of its existent, adding that its judicious and transparent operation had contributed to the return of the amount to the federal government. “We call on other government agencies to emulate the Board in prudent management of resources so that much can be save, returned to government coff ers to stimulate the economy out of the recession.”
