Governor Jonah David Jang of Plateau state yesterday inaugurated a nine-man management committee for Jos North and Wase local government councils, respectively, to run the affairs of the councils till further notice.
Coming exactly a month after elected officers were inaugurated for 14 local government councils, it was recalled that the anomaly in Jos North and Wase became inevitable due to subsisting security challenges in the two Councils that make atmosphere for holding of elections there not conducive or vulnerable.

Speaking during the inauguration, Jang said: “You will recall that very recently we were gathered in a ceremony like this, when elected local government chairmen took their oath of office.
“At that swearing in, we promised to conduct elections for Jos North and Wase when the security situation improved; the Plateau State Security Council is watching the security situation closely.”

He urged the new appointees to “hold brief in this regard with every sense of responsibility; see it as an opportunity to serve your local government areas faithfully and diligently in order to provide conducive atmosphere for development and transformation at the grassroots.”
While Dr Danjuma Wakili Sanda was sworn in as the management committee chairman for Jos North, Alhaji Haruna Zakari Abdul was sworn in as the head of the management team for Wase.
In a vote of thanks, Sanda pledged that they would not disappoint the governor and the people of Plateau, with a base line that they would aspire to replicate the development record of Jang at the local government level.
