The national chairman, Council of Ulama, Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’Ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, has admonished traders of essential commodities not hike the prices of food items during Ramadan period.

He said they should be compassionate to the people considering the economic hardship in the country.

Sheikh Jingir made the call at the formal opening of this year’s annual Tafsir, held at Layin Zana Mosque, in Jos.

He said: “Allah is most compassionate, that He has enriched our traders and so it is expected that they also be compassionate to the people.”

Sheikh Jingir also commended resident doctors for suspending their strike, describing their action as an act of compassion.

He admonished Muslims to support their children to study medicine and other medical related courses.

“Today JIBWIS has more than 700 trained medical doctors, our intents is to have special team of health experts, there is World Health Organization (WHO),” he said.

Sheikh Jingir, further admonished the media to exhibit sense of truth and fairness in the discharge of their duties.

“Media was used to set nations to wars.

“The media is also in use to propagate Islam. The media are helping in building schools and bad leaders are afraid of the media because it can easily expose them.

“Therefore, journalists should be wary not to allow themselves to be used to scare people.

“Nigerian journalists should not allow themselves to be used as agents of destructions of their country,” the cleric admonished.
