Jigawa agency presents 148 certificates to prison inmates

Jigawa State Agency for Mass Education (JSAME) has presented certificates to prison inmates who completed their basic and post basic literacy education at Garu satellite prison, Dutse. Presenting the certifi cates to the officer in charge of the prison, the Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr Abbas Abubakar Abbas, said 181 inmates from satellite prison across the state sat for the examination in which 148 were successful. Dr Abbas commended the prison management for the cooperation in conducting the training for the inmates to enable them integrate fully into the educated society. The executive secretary said the nine-month basic and post basic literacy training received by the inmates would enable them pursue their education up to degree level. He commended Governor Badaru Abubakar for his eff ort to reduce poverty through his administration’s empowerment programme. In his remark, the officer in charge of the prison, Aminu Abubakar, commended the agency for the gesture, adding that 19 inmates of the prison passed the examination.
