Jigawa state governor, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has approved the reconstitution of a 14 -member Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy.
This was contained in a release made available to our correspondent Tuesday in Dutse by Ismaila Ibrahim Dutse, Public Relations Officer to the Secretary to Jigawa State Government, Alhaji Adamu Abdulkadir Fanini.
The SSG explained that the council is to advise the governor on the prerogative of mercy exercise conferred on him by Section 212 of the Nigerian constitution.
The statement further appealed to religious leaders and the general public to join forces to work for peace around the state and focus on the common battle to defeat COVID-19.
