Jigawa earmarks N733m for water stations

Jigawa state government has said that it had awarded contracts for the renovation of all non-functional and functional water stations across the state to buttress its determination to provide of clean drinking water to the people.
The Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Ibrahim Garba Hannun Giwa, while briefing newsmen in office yesterday.
He said a committee had been set up by Governor Badaru Abubakar under the chairmanship of Director-General, due process and projects Monitoring Bureau, Malam Ado Hussaini, to find out the conditions of those water stations and recommend to government on the way forward.

He said the committee  discovered that most of water supplying machines such Boreholes, hand pumps, solar systems, water supply generating sets and even some complete  boreholes with overhead tanks were in bad conditions,  pointing out that government had already
commissioned, rehabilitated and renovated them.
Giwa disclosed that in 21 boreholes and hand-pumps were renovated in Gwaram, while one abandoned borehole for eight years was also repaired in  Gumel local government council.
The commissioner sought the support of the federal government and development partners for the actualising “the gigantic project projects” where water would be sourced from Ringim River to Dutse.
