Jigawa employs indigenous medical students before graduation – Official 

Executive Secretary Jigawa state Primary Healthcare Agency (PHC), Dr Kabiru Ibrahim, has said the state government spends N75 million monthly on free medical services covering women and children.

He also said to improve the standard and status of health of its citizens, the state government also engages medical personnel from the state, right before they finish school.

Addressing reporters Monday at the agency’s conference hall, Dr Kabiru stated that the moment medical students finish they are engaged into the main stream of the state civil service. 

“Jigawa state government has institutionalised what it calls bundle of medical personnel. They are engaged right from their schools,” Dr Kabiru said.

“Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists, Medical Lab, Physio-Therapists, Radiologists, and Radiographers as well as consultants are engaged right when they are students,” he added.

He said in 2016 and 2017, the state government employed 640 health workers and engaged over 2,000 adult-based health workers of different layers.
