Jigawa lawmaker empowers 600 constituents

To justify his resolve to boost education and make his constituent self-reliant, the member representing Y’ankwashi constituency at the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Abduraham Alkassim, has donated 300 bycles to 600 hundred junior and senior secondary school students and primary school pupils to facilitate their educational pursuit.

The lawmaker at the handing over of the bicycles to the beneficiaries, held at Karkarna town headquarters of Karkarna local government of Jigawa state, Monday, also donated 50 motorcycles to youth, 50 generators, 50 10 kg bags, and 50 galons of cooking oil to women who produce beans cake in order to boost dry season farming, local transportation and beans cake business.

Speaking at the occasion, Hon. Alkassim said this was the fourth empowerment programme he performed in the constituency, stating that he distributed 37 cars, 63 motorcycles, 120 water pumping machines for irrigation.

According to him, he also empowered 100 women as well 100 men during the first second and third empowerment programmes with a view to making them self-reliant.

”One day i was going in my car, i saw primary and secondary school students trekking to schools. From distance, i felt sympathetic, then i decided that whenever I will do empowerment programmes, i will dwell on students in order to reduce their hardship.

“It is part of the discipline our leader Governor Badaru instills in our minds to imbibe the culture of assisting the less privileged persons so as to serve as good example of better leadership so that they will learn,” he stated.

Hon Abduraham who assured that he will continue with the gesture, lampooned the opposition Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] for failing
to help the electorate.

He blamed the PDP for stashing away public funds and encouraging corruption, insecurity, among others and swore that PDP will never lead Nigeria anymore.

The lawmaker who warned parents and teachers who attempts to seize the bicycles stressing that God the Almighty will severely punish them if they seize from their children.

In his remarks, the state commissioner for education, Dr. Lawan Yunus Danzomo, who commended the lawmaker, said by his calculation, the cost of the 300 bicycles was over N21milion.

He urged other federal and state legislators to emulate the good gesture adding that education which is the pillar of any development, needs support by all and sundry.
