Jigawa LG uncovers 57 illicit drug outlets

Ringim local government area of Jigawa state said it has uncovered 57 illicit drugs outlets across the area. Chairman of the local government council, Alhaji Abdurashid Illa Ringim, disclosed this in an address he delivered at a lecture organised by Ringim Committee against immoral behaviour and fi ght against illicit drugs in the area. He expressed concern over the daily increase of consumption hard drugs by young people in the area, saying this had metamorphosed into committing criminal tendencies. Illa Ringim stated that the trend must be checked before it went out of control, saying that his council will liaise with security agencies to mitigate the problem in the area.

He said that he was ever ready to sacrifi ce his last drop of his blood to defend the lives and property of his people, stating that very soon, security operatives will descend on the perpetrators of the sailing illicit drugs and consumers in the area with a view to bring them to Justice no matter how highly placed their parents are in the society. Th e chairman blamed parents for failure to inculcate moral in their children from tender ages, stating that sometimes, there was a case where a boy, who took illicit drugs, went and sat on the rail line and was crushed by moving train. Earlier in his welcome address, the chairman of the Committee, Dr. Musa Saleh, said the rationale behind the lecture was to educate youths, especially, students on the consequences of illicit drugs.
