Jigawa coordinator of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Alhaji Abubakar Muhammed Jamo, has said 30 persons have been selected for training and empowerment on poultry production across the state.
Jambo disclosed this while flagging off the programme at the Agricultural Skills Training Centre (ASTC), Karneya village in Dutse local government area of the state.
He said the sustainable agricultural development training scheme was being conducted across the six geo-political zones of the country with 30 people selected from each state for empowerment with agricultural skills in which they have comparative advantage.
He further explained that the 30 people were drawn from the various locations in the states to receive training on orientation, practical and theoretical skills, adding that the training would last for four months.
The coordinator said as part of the training, about 100 day-old chicks were purchased for practical activities during the four months orientation for demonstration at the centre.
“This is part of the federal government policy which provides the opportunities for youth to embrace agriculture to earn income as well as create wealth. It is an orientation of sustainable agricultural development training scheme,” he said.
