Rector of Jigawa State Polytechnic, Dutse, Dr Aliyu Abdu Ibrahim has announced that the institution was the first to complete 207 intervention projects in the country to justify what was allocated them.
The rector disclosed this while interacting with our correspondent in his office, Monday, pointing out that they were able to complete eight number classrooms now in use, renovated and remodelled multipurpose hall, purchased an 18 seater bus and equipping administration offices.
Others, according to him, were the renovation and remodelling of academic offices, purchase of 2016\2017 library books, journals and equipment as well as sponsoring of academic and non academic staff on research, namely; Dauda Ibrahim, Sarawa Hambali Dauda, and Na’ima Lawan, stating that the sum of N5.7 million.
The rector disclosed further that the institution has introduced new academic programmes including Diploma in Mass Communication, Higher National Diploma in Biochemistry, Diploma in Physics with Electronics, Higher National Diploma in Environmental Biology, Advanced Diploma in Environmental Biology as well Diploma in Environmental Health Technology and Diploma in Industrial Biology.
Dr Aliyu, who said the institution has got resource approval from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), stated that they were only awaiting the visitation panel for final approval.
He disclosed that the institution now has 3,700 students and126 academic staff, saying he hoped to bring uncommon growth and development to the institution.
