Jigawa screens 6,141 patients with COVID-19 cases

Jigawa state government has screened a total of 6,141 patients with suspected COVID- 19 cases this year.

Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar stated this Thursday during a media chat at Government House on the effect of the pandemic.

He said out of the number, 466 patients were found positive and 425 discharged.

Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar further stated that the state had recorded 213 deaths including one medical doctor and presently there are 48 active cases on admission.

The governor expressed appreciation to people of the state for ensuring peace and tranquility that prevailed despite the present economic and social predicaments in the country.

He urged the people to abide by presidential order on the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic or face a six months jail term and a fine of N5, 000.00.

Alhaji Abubakar also urged the people to wear face masks, ensure social distance and avoid crowded places so as to be safe.

He stated that 13 people, including a medical doctor died during the first phase of the pandemic in the state.’
