Jigawa spends N300m on science, technical schools

The Jigawa state government has said it has expended about N3oo million in the building and renovation of schools damaged by rain windstorm while procuring furniture for them as part of its resolve to boost science and technical education in the state.
Executive Secretary, Jigawa state Science and Technical Schools Board, Alhaji Haladu Yakubu, stated this in an interview with our correspondent in his office over the weekend.
He said, in terms of renovation of classes and hostels of boarding schools, work on four blocks at the Government Technical College Karkarna, Yankwashi local government, construction of one block at Junior Science and Technical School, Dan Zomo, one block of laboratory and a workshop, have reached 90 per cent completion level.
He said over N100 million has been spent on the renovation of Lautai Science College, Gumel which wall fence windstorm had damaged, adding that the sum of N4million has been spent on the renovation of Karkarna Boarding Science School.
Yakubu stated further that government has also spent over N86 million for the construction of new Science College in Ringim local government and procured furniture worth over N19 million for equipping the schools to meet the standard.
