Jigawa spent N20bn on rural water supply-Commissioner

Jigawa state government said it has spent over N20 billion in the last three years in an effort to improve water supply in all the nooks and cronies of the state.

This was stated by the state commissioner for Water Resources, Honourable Ibrahim Garba Hannun Giwa during a meeting with the European Union delegation at the ministry’s conference hall Tuesday  in Dutse.

He said beside the construction of hundreds of hand pumps water and converted 172 urban motorised water scheme to solar power out of 700, the ministry is  targeting 100 percent conversion by 2022.

The commissioner commended EU for spending over N3 billion in the construction of water schemes, hygiene facilities and manpower training in the state.

Also speaking, the Head of the European Union delegation in Nigeria, Mass Montserrat Pantaleoni,  commended Jigawa state government for achieving 87% in provision of rural water supply.
