Jigawa to recruit 1,300 teachers

The Jigawa state government has concluded arrangements to recruit 1, 300 teachers in the first quarter of this year.
Executive chairman, state Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Salisu Zakar dropped the hint yesterday while reviewing the board’s achievements in their last fiscal year.
Zakar said those to be recruited would include English, Mathematics and science teachers.
“The government is determined to boost the state education sector to meet the standard requirements of education, which we need competent hands to teach the basic subjects in our schools.”
The executive chairman then disclosed that, the state government would recruit about 5, 000 teachers before the end of the year to cope with the challenges of inadequate qualified primary and junior secondary schools teachers in the state.
“The first batch of the recruitment exercise would commence immediately; already we have received thousands of applications of interested teachers seeking for the job,” he said.
