Jigawa to transit 107 nomadic schools in 2021

To justify its priority on educational development of all categoriesIn the 2021 fiscal year, the Jigawa state government has planned to transit 107 girls nomadic schools across the state to Junior Secondary Schools and the sum of N100 million has been earmarked for the nomadic education sub sector.


This was contained in the 2021 appropriation bill submitted to the
House of Assembly. It stated that the proposed allocation also includes the procurement of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and provision of other instructional materials, teacher, quality and capacity development and implementation of the World Bank supported BESDA programme.


Governor Badaru Abubakar said the momentum of progress in the execution of their educational change agenda as it affects basic and junior and senior education would be sustained and accelerated.


He said a rundown of the deliverable under the education sector were as follows; provision of primary and Junior Secondary Schools structures and facilities with a proposed allocation of #10.10 billion which includes, the sum of #3.4 billion to be jointly funded with UBEC on the provision of new school structures and rehabilitation of existing ones at the basic education level including provision of water and sanitation facilities and construction of teacher’s houses.


On tertiary education sub -sector, Governor Badaru stated that
approximately #6.7billion was proposed for all the six existing
tertiary educational institutions in the state.


He added that to fund this, they envisaged to access up to #4bilion from TET FUND complement additional treasury and other financing items.


He noted that the provision was generally for the continued expansions of the institutions to establish new departments , accredit more courses, build teacher capacities and procure all the requisite materials and facilities including the completion and take -off of the newly established College of Remedial Studies.
