Jilted lover commits suicide over quit notice

A middle-aged man simply identified as Omoruyi has reportedly taken his own life after his long time ‘girl friend’ informed him they were not compatible to be husband and wife.
The incident allegedly occurred at house No: 33 Omoruyi Street, Sokponba Quarters in Benin City, the Edo state capital.

The jilted lover’s lifeless body was said to have been found dangling on a rope tied to the ceiling fan in his apartment at about 3.pm, last Sunday.
Sources in the neigbourhood alleged that the late Paul was particularly pained because he sponsored the said girlfriend, identified as Faith, in her higher institution.

“But now that the girl is in her final year, she came back to tell the young man that he was no longer befitting for her,” the source said.
It was further learnt that the deceased had financed the girl’s education with proceeds from his commercial motorcycle riding business before the ban on their activities in Benin City metropolis, last year.
According to sources, he (Paul) thereafter engaged in the business of grinding pepper with machine in one of the markets in Benin City after the motorcycle ban in order to meet ends mean.

When contacted, Edo state police image maker, DSP Moses Eguavoen confirmed the development, adding that the authorities have deposited his remains in a mortuary in Benin City.
Eguavoen,  however, stated  that none of the victim’s family member or associate have shown up for information and identification.
