JKF YOUTH CUP 2019: Organizers reveal prizes for teams


The organisers of the Dr. John Kayode Fayemi U-15 Football Competition have revealed what has been described as novel method in terms of rewards for participating teams in the competition.

According to a statement released by the organising committee led by Kola Owoseni, it has concluded arrangements with Zenith Bank Plc, Ado-Ekiti to open ZECA accounts (Teens Account) for all players participating in the 2019 edition of the competition.

“The officials and the local football councils shall also be encouraged to open individual and corporate accounts respectively so as to enjoy the benefits that will accrue from the agreement with the foremost banking institution.

“A total of about three and a half million naira shall be won as cash prizes in the youth competition and this method of rewards system is our idea to encourage the youths to cultivate a savings habit. The essence of this competition is for youth development.

“On completion of registrations, we shall credit the 16 local football council accounts with N25,000 each, while all the players and officials shall have their accounts credited with N1,000 and N2,000 respectively,” he disclosed.

It went further to give a comprehensive run down of the cash prizes. According to the statement, in the quarter finals of the boys category, players and officials shall receive N2,000 and N3,000; in the semi finals, it will be N3,000 and N4,000; the third place match will give the players and officials a further N3,000 and N4,000; and in the final, the players and officials will receive N4,000 and N5,000 respectively. While players and officials of the team will be rewarded with a further N5,000 and N7,000.

In the female category, it shall be N2,000 and N3,000 per players and officials; in the third place, it shall be N3,000 and N4,000 for players and officials. In the final match, it shall be N4,000 and N5,000 for players and officials. The players and officials of the winning team will receive a further N4,000 and N6,000.

It revealed further that the most valuable player in each category shall get N10,000 each, while the highest goals scorer and the best goalkeeper in both categories shall receive N5,000 each, to make a total cash price of N3,501,000:00
