JKF Youth Cup: History as competition kicks off with goals galore



The JKF U-15 boys and girls football competition kicked off Friday across five match venues in Ekiti state to the delight of enthusiastic football fans who have been salivating for months leading to the competition.


In the female category of match day one, played at the Oluyemi Kayode stadium, Ado-Ekiti, Agbana Wonderful Academy and Salem City Queens played out a goalless draw. 
And in the second game of the day, Fawekun Queens lost 0-1 to Promise City Queens in an enthralling encounter.
Matches in the male category lived up to its billings and what with an avalanche of goals in most of the matches played. 
At the Omuo Ekiti Centre, Gbonyin LG defeated Emure LG 2-1 ; at Ijero Centre, Efon LG and Ekiti Southwest ended their encounter 1-1
The goals’ rush started in Ayetoro centre, where Ilejemeje LG decimated Ijero LG 5-1; while Ado-Ekiti LG also annihilated Omuo Ekiti LG 6-0, at the Odo Oro centre.
The goals’ rain continued on match day two played Sunday, November 24, across the designated five match centres in the state. It began as EKSU Lionesses were thrashed 0-8 by FC Phoenix in first game of the day played at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium Ado-Ekiti, while Fatoba Queens defeated Dynamic Queens 2-1,at the same venue.


The goals rush also continued unabated on match day two in male category. 
At the Ijero Centre, Ikere LG whipped Ekiti West LG 4-0; at the Ayetoro centre, Oye LG beat Moba LG 3-2; Ido Osi LG lost 0-3 to Irepodun/Ifelodun LG in the game played at Odo- Oro centre; as Omuo Ekiti centre recorded the only scoreless game in this category, when Ikole LG held Ise Orun to a draw.


The maiden edition of the JKF youth cup, which is organised by Ekiti state Football Association in partnership with ALGON, Ekiti state chapter, Zenith Bank PLC and  Gossy Spring Waters Limited, is also ably supported by the Ekiti state government.
