JNI tasked on proliferation of Islamic sects

The Jama’atul Nasril Islam (JNI) has been charged to address the proliferation of Islamic sects to avoid division and crises in the religion.
Former Kogi state commissioner for finance, Alhaji Garba Abubakar Usman gave the charge yesterday in Lokoja during an event organised by the Kogi State Muslim Organisations (KOSMO) in commemoration of the 1440 Hijrah Calendar, adding that the Muslim Ummah all over the world must shun divisive tendencies and see themselves as one indivisible entity .
Abubakar, who was the chairman of the occasion, lamented that the proliferation of Islamic sects with different ideologies not controlled by Islamic organizations, was already causing damage to the lives of many youths who are adherents of such sects.
An Islamic scholar with the Kogi State University, Ustaz Kabir Isah in his lecture titled “Political Awareness: the Islamic Leadership Style, called on Muslims in positions of leadership in the country to work for the overall development and wellbeing of the masses rather than viewing leadership as an opportunity to embezzle public funds at the detriment of the people .
Ustaz Isah however challenged political leaders in the country to emulate the selfless and sacrificial leadership styles of the late Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello and the late Prime Minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa
