JNI tasks Nigerian leaders on justice, fairness

The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) has urged Nigerian leaders to imbibe justice, fairness and equity in all they do to end the insecurity ravaging the country and ensure peaceful coexistence among the diverse people.
JNI Secretary Kogi state, Alhaji Imam Isa Adeboye, who stated this on Saturday, said what caused insecurity in parts of the country was injustice “because where there is no justice, there can be no peace. Even if there is peace, it may not last.”

Addressing the turbaning of Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad Abimbola as the Chief Imam of Odo Eri, Yagba West local government area of Kogi state on Saturday, Alhaji Isa said JNI has proactively ensured religious harmony and peaceful coexistence in Okun land.

The event doubled as the Walimat-ul Qur’an of seven Qur’anic graduates of Mahd Maqoma Ibrahim Akewukewe Li-Dirasatil Arobiyya Wal-Islamiyya, Odo Eri.
“Let there be fairness, justice and equity. When there is no justice there would be no peace. What is creating problems today is injustice. If our leaders are just, police, traditional leaders, religious leaders, there would be no problem. Let’s be just, let’s all remember that we will give account to God. We will explain to God how we spent our life.

“JNI is involved in religious harmony in Okun land. We ensure peaceful coexistence among the two religions, we don’t allow it to be disturbed. We spent over 40 years to resolve the challenge in Iyara community due to injustice.
“The Hausa community we plead with you to continue to live in peace with your hosts. We thank God that we can hardly find people kidnapped in Okun land and we pray for the peace to continue forever. We also pray that God will protect our people who are suffering from insecurity and bring peace to all parts of our country,” he said.

The JNI Kogi state scribe lauded late Sheikh Ibrahim Mahmud the late chief imam of Odo Eri and Okun Land, as the promoter of JNI in Kogi, Kwara, Niger and Benue states.
He said,  “We thank late Alhaji Ibrahim Mahmud whose name cannot be erased in Kwara, Niger, Kogi and Benue states, Okun land and Odo Eri. May Allah forgive him and grant him Aljanah.
“He started JNI in Kogi, Kwara, Niger states. We thank Allah that he left good children. We graded the Taiyese (Oba) of Odo Eri as third class chief in 1991 by the time he grows old and departs we pray that whoever should come after him will come as first class. As JNI Secretary in Okun land for 12 years, Alhaji Mahmud supported me before I took up the assignment to become the state secretary.”
Advising the new Chief Imam, Alhaji Isa said, “Imamship is a responsibility in this world and the hereafter. If we know the weight of the responsibility we will never say we want to be an imam. It is what you will account for in this world and the hereafter. Did you merit to be called an imam? That was why Allah said don’t aspire to be imam, let the people choose you to be their imam.”

The ceremony was attended by the Baba Adini of Okun land, Alhaji AbdulRasak Ajidahun, the Eleri of Odo Eri, HRH, Alhaji Tajudeen Fasedu, the Elejuku of Ejuku land, the Oba of Oranre, the Oba of Idofin and Chief Imam of Yagba East, Alhaji Nasiru Ilyas. Sheikh Kamaldeen Sofiyullahi Al Adabiyy from Ilorin was the guest lecturer.
