Plateau state director of publicity, Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Sani Mudi has admonished Muslims to end violence against children and uphold their rights as enshrined in the holy quean.
Mudi gave this admonition during a school to school advocacy and awareness campaign in Jos, the Plateau state capital on “End Violence Against Children” in collaboration with UNICEF.
According to him, the collaboration between JNI and UNICEF has spurred up the Muslim ummah to refer back to the teachings and practices of Islam as enshrined in the Qur’an and Prophet Muhammad’s teachings.
“As school teachers, the duty of ensuring that the rights of these children are protected lays in you. Sometimes the violence is meted on a child by his fellow child, parents and teachers also harass children and we all know that Islam has made adequate provision on how best to protect their rights,” he admonished.
Mudi said patents should stop reckless spending and channel their funds towards good education and health care for their children.
The JNI campaign coordinator for Gombe and Plateau states, Malam Abubakar Gafai, said violence against children and humanity is unIslamic.
“Islam abhors all forms of violence against children, it is inhuman and an offence,” he added.
Quoting from Prophet Muhammad, he said “A true Muslim is the one that his fellow Muslim brothers are saved from the deeds of his hands and mouth, and an immigrant is the one that migrate from all.”
He reiterated that it is the absolute right of a child for his parents to see to his or her proper upcoming, good education, inculcate moral discipline into him.
Our correspondent reports that the schools advocacies brought to an end the one week awareness campaign, tagged: “Fear Allah, and be just to
