Job creation: NGO empowers 800 in Nasarawa

SayProve Empowerment Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has trained 800 youths on different skills at Aso-Pada, Mararaba in Karu LGA of Nasarawa state.
Chairman of the foundation, Stephen Chukinujekwe , while speaking at the graduation ceremony recently, said that the training would address youth restiveness, empower women, men as well as cut down on the high crime rate in Nasarawa and across the country.
In line with this, Chukwujekwu added that the second in the series which kicked off yesterday at Asokoro extension will further capture more Nigerians there are 19 empowerment programmes with which to alleviate poverty.
He said that the foundation was determined to minimise the rate at which youths got involved in crimes, by engaging them in meaningful economic ventures.
“This free skill acquisition for youths of this area is part of our efforts to reduce youth idleness and crime rate.
“The era of waiting for white-collar jobs is over; government alone cannot create the needed jobs for our teaming graduates; so, entrepreneurship and skill acquisition are vital,” he said.
The chairman said that the organisation spent over N1 million on the training, and urged other non-governmental organisations and well-meaning individuals as well as corporate entities to also support the youth.
He said that his foundation would continue to render such an assistance to the youth, particularly those desirous of selfreliance.
According to him, the programme is geared towards supporting indigent members of the society, adding that before now, over 3000 people have been trained within the FCT and that the organization intends to carry out the training in other states of the federation to help equip Nigerians with various skills to make life more meaningful.
