JOHESU gives conditions for strike suspension

Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) has insisted that the union would not soft pedal on its stance on the ongoing strike until the federal government issues a positive circular addressing their demands.

Th e union leadership also said the circular should be presented to the various NECs today, to ratify the decision on the suspension of the industrial action.
Th e union is further demanding the sack of the CMAC, Irrua Teaching Hospitals, Edo, Dr.
Wilson Ovienria, for physically assaulting members of JOHESU during the strike.
National chairman of JOHESU, Comrade Josiah Biobelemoye, said the union was demanding among other things that the Federal Ministry of Health should ensure that the OHCSF circularises the amended Scheme of Service for Nurses and other professionals within one week.
Besides, the union is demanding for teaching allowances for nurses and health workers from CONHESS 7 and above taking teaching duties, shortfall of call duty allowances as per last review of call duty allowances for nurses and other health workers taking call duties.
It said the FMoH should assist JOHESU to look into the issue of the establishment of regulatory councils for dieticians, medical social workers and clinical psychologists among others.
