Jonathan appoints Hussaini Ibrahim RMRDC boss

The federal government has approved the appointment of Dr Hussaini Doko Ibrahim as the new Director-General of Raw Material Research and Development Council (RMRDC).
Ibrahim was the acting director-general of the Council until his appointment yesterday.
A 1984 graduate of Bachelor of Science, Textile Science and Technology, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Ibrahim started his working career as a graduate assistant in the same university in 1985 after his National Youth Service in Borno state.

He won the Oba of Benin Prize for Best Final Year Student of the Department of Textile Science and Technology, ABU, Zaria.
From 1985 to 1994, Ibrahim who was a visiting Research Fellow, University of Leeds, United Kingdom, rose to Lecture 1 in ABU.
Within the same period, he bagged his Master Degree and Ph. D in Textile Science and Technology, and Textile Science and Engineering at ABU and University of Leeds, respectively.

He joined the RMRDC in 1994 as Assistant Chief Scientific Officer, Pilot Plant Technology Development Projects Division. From 1994 to 2007, Ibrahim rose steadily to Director, Industrial Chemical and Minerals Department of the same organisation.
In addition to his schedules, within the same period, the new Director General garnered administrative experiences through participation in various ad-hoc committee assignments, conferences, workshops and seminars within and outside Nigeria. From 2009 to the period, he was appointed in acting capacity; he always acted while the former Director General was on annual leave or official duties.

A Fellow of Chartered Institute of Chemists of Nigeria (FICCON) and Chartered Textile Technologist of Textile Institute of C. TEXT (A.T.I), United Kingdom, Ibrahim is also member of many other professional bodies at home and abroad. In addition to his B.Sc, M.Sc and PhD Thesis, the new director-general has over 50 publications in various books and journals.
Ibrahim, who is happily married with children, is expected to bring his years of experiences to build on the legacies of his predecessors and also help in positing the organisation to key-in the ongoing transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
