Jonathan assures on security in North-central

President Goodluck Jonathan has said that government was putting every security measure in place to ensure an end to recent killings in the North-central states of Benue, Nasarawa and Plateau.
Jonathan also told the North-central leaders that his administration was working on the revival of the Ajaokuta Steel Complex which is located in Kogi state.
He said these yesterday while addressing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders from the North-central zone, which paid him a solidarity visit at the Presidential Villa.

The forum attended by Senate President, David Mark, the governors from the zone and their deputies, ministers and legislators afforded the President to reveal some of the policy directions of his administration and thanked the people from the zone for their support.
On the revival of Ajaokuta Steel Company, Jonathan said: “Of course, the key thing is that we had some challenges with the privatisation process. The people that got it there were some issues but because of these litigations, the project was held down.”

Speaking on behalf of the governors, Gabriel Suswam of Benue state said: “We are also aware that being governors who have held several meetings with you of the efforts you are making to address these security issues that have befalling our great country and Mr president as your children, we will not stop crying to you and asking that you play particular attention on the issues that affect the North-central.

“The reason being that if the north central is disorganised, Mr President you are disorganised because that is where you have your stability and so whatever it will take Mr. President to address the security challenges that we have in the north central. You have just directed the military to move in, they have started moving in between Nasarawa and Benue.
Amongst those present at the meeting were the National Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Ahmed Muazu; Governors Idris Wada (Kogi); Jonah Jang (Plateau); deputy governors of Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger, Benue; Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Bala Mohammed, Minister of State, Olajumoke Akinjide,  Senators Barnabas Gemade and Smart Adeyemi; Gen.
