Jonathan commissions 270 aviation housing units in Kuje

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan yesterday commissioned a 270 housing units Estate at the Aviation Village Housing Estate on Airport Road, Umar Musa Yar’Adua Way.

The president also launched the new National Housing Fund (NHF) electronic card (e-card) to ensure transparency and accountability.
Jonathan, who was received by the Minister of the FCT, Sen. Bala Mohammmed, said improving the living standard of Nigerians was a cardinal objective of his administration, stressing that “Nigerians deserve decent houses.”
He said the housing units being commissioned “looks small in number, but great things start small and this administration has begun to transform the housing sector.”

He said: “I am glad to commission the aviation housing built for Nigerians and formally launch the National Housing Fund (NHF) electronic card (e-card).
“The significance of both projects is better appreciated when we recall that only three weeks ago, we announced the Nigeria Mortgage and Finance Company. Together, these are strong indicators of the quick wins emerging in re-invigorated approach that the administration has adopted to address the housing challenges.”

He said for his administration “improving the living standards of Nigerians is a cardinal objective to which we are totally and reasonably committed and we are vigorously pursuing in developing the Nigerian housing sector.”
“All Nigerians must live in decent houses. We are commissioning a vision of our government and we are commissioning the success of the housing sector.”
In his remarks, the Managing Director, FMBN, Mr. Gumba Yao Kumo, assured that the bank was “focused in delivering affordable housing to Nigerians.”
