Jonathan renews Tahir’s appointment as UMTH boss

President Goodluck Jonathan has renewed the appointment of Prof. Abdulrahman Tahir as the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) for a second term of four years.
A statement issued by the Director of Administration, Baba Gana Mohammed, in Maiduguri stated that the appointment takes effect from September 3, 2014.

Tahir, who hails from Yola in Adamawa state, had his secondary education in Michika, Adamawa state, from 1975 to 1980.
He proceeded to the University of Maiduguri, where he bagged his MBBS in 1987 with Distinction in Applied Pharmacology.
He was at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, where he won the prestigious Bayo Banjo prize for overall best Radiologist.
He also has fellowships of the West African College of Surgeon (FWACS), Medical College of Radiology (FMCR) and Fellow Austrian Medical Society (FAMS).
Congratulating the CMD, the Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, charged him not to rest on his oars, but to regard his appointment as an opportunity to improve on his performance during his first tenure.
