Jonathan to host CHAN Eagles next week

The entire squad of the home-based Super Eagles will be guests of President Goodluck Jonathan, when he hosts them next week Thursday in an elaborate reception though the team on arrival from South Africa were disbanded by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The revelation that there are plans by the presidency to host the players after they finished in third place in the recently concluded African Nations Championship (CHAN) was made by a top official of the sports ministry, Julius Ogunro.

Ogunro who is the special assistant to the sports minister, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, made the revelation in a television interview on Wednesday night.”I have good news for Nigerians and the team that they would be received by President Goodluck Jonathan (GCFR) next week Thursday at an elaborate reception in Abuja,” Ogunro said.

It is, however, not clear if they will be any form of reward to the players from the Presidency as was the case last year when the Super Eagles won the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
