Jonathan’s aide urges institutions to emulate UNN

Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Youth and Students Matters, Comrade Jude Imagwe, has urged institutions in the country to imbibe the development strive of the management of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).

He made the call while being conducted round several projects at the university campus yesterday, saying that if students’ welfare were taken seriously, there would be no cause for friction between the management and the students.

Imagwe, who commended the vice-chancellor, Prof. Barto Ndubuisi Okoro,’s development strives, urged the students to take good care of the infrastructure as their own “so that other incoming students can benefit from it.”
He said the management’s decision to commence the total renovation of the decayed infrastructure across its campuses was an indication of its concern about the welfare of the students.

He, therefore, called on other managements across the country to prioritise the welfare of their students above personal gains, stressing that “this will enable their products to be able to compete favourably with their peers internationally.”

The vice-chancellor said the projects which would gulp some billions of naira would enable the students and staff to rank amongst the best in the world.
He added that the school “is currently collaborating with over 18 international institutions ton various fields to enable its products acquire up-to- date teaching.”
According to him, his administration has renovated the hostels, increased the provisions of water to the school, constructions of roads.
