Jos new stadium gets N1bn approval for completion

The Plateau State House of Assembly have granted approval to Governor Simon Lalong’s, request to seek the sum of N1bn loan for completion of the New Jos Stadium.
House Speaker, Peter Azi, said the communication from the Governor seeks for approval of the legislators to enable him gets the necessary funds from Fidelity Bank Plc for the completion of the project which is in advanced stage.
“…the request if granted is for the completion of some critical components of the new stadium,” the communication read in part.
Plateau United Football Club is the 2017 NPFL champions and is currently representing the country in the CAF Champions League playing its matches in an uncompleted stadium, with its roof left open and lacking other vital needs” he said .
The Contractor handling the construction of the Stadium, BBC Tropical (Nig) Limited, had in a chart with journalists begged the Plateau State Government for funds to pay for the roof ordered from Germany last December.
“The Germans are not happy with us for placing an order which we have not gone to pay for in spite of the short time we place that order.
“If the state government is not ready to released the N1.4 billion it promised us for the little work we are suppose to do for Plateau United Football Club convenience in executing its CAF Championship matches, let them give us the N400M meant for the roof, ’’ the contractor begged.
