Jos Substation to improve electricity supply in North-east-TCN

The Assistant General Manager, Jos Substation of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Engr Th omas Dunia, has disclosed that the 60MVA transformer that is being installed at the station will improve power supply to the NorTheast region of the country. The station, which serves some parts of Jos town in Plateau state, also supplies power to Gombe, Damaturu, and other towns in the zone. Addressing the Minister of State 11 for Power, Works and Housing, Surveyor Sulaiman Hassan Zarma, who was on an inspection tour to the station recently, Dunia said upon its complete installation, the transformer would complement the two existing ones at the station. According to him, the station has two 60MVA transformers, adding that with the new one, the station now has a 180MVA wheeling capacity.

He, however, said that thunder protector, which was not yet available was responsible for the complete installation of the project. In his address, the minister re-affirmed the federal government’s commitment to increase power supply in the country. He said that the federal government embarked on the project because of the increase of population and expansion in towns and villages in the norTheast geo-political zone of the country. He also promised that a d d i t i o n a l 3 0 0 M VA transformer would soon be provided for the station to feed some parts of Bauchi and Kanfanchan towns.
