Independent Hajj Reporters, a civil society organisation, has condemned the recent bomb blast that claimed the lives of over 100 Nigerians in Nyanyan, Abuja.
This was contained in a statement signed in Kaduna by its National Coordinator Ibrahim Muhammed. It said “we are saddened by yet another horrific mass murder of innocent Nigerians in a bomb blast that occurred in Nyanya.
“We condemn this wicked act of barbarism and call on security agencies to reconfigure their strategy by proactively preventing such acts of savagery before it is executed”.
The group queried playing politics with the lives of innocent Nigerians who have been drenched in a sea of poverty and suffering by the same ruling class. What has happened to the oath of office taken by the executives to protect the lives and properties of Nigerians?
The group expressed worry over the spread of killings to other part of the country. “Initially it was in the North-east states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa where thousands of lives have been lost to the activities of these faceless madmen. Like a raging fire, they have now extended their bloody massacres to the central part of the North”.
The statement said “by committing this atrocities close to the seat of power, the perpetrators of this dastardly act have shown that they can strike anywhere in Nigeria. Like the law of gravity, devil’s advocates operate anywhere and everywhere with the same nefarious mindset. That is why all Nigerians must rise up and condemn the gradual annihilation of the helpless people of this country by unseen forces”.
The statement further cautioned “political parties’ spokesmen to control their loose tongue and stop playing the ostrich with the blood of innocent Nigerians.
“While we appreciate the power of prayer especially the prayers of those who have no blood in their hands; we urge Nigerians to be vigilant and take personal precautions in view of the porous and slippery security situation we find ourselves”.
