Junaidu was committed democrat, nationalist – Ganduje

Governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has described second Republic politician, Dr. Junaidu Mohammed, as a committed democrat and a nationalist, noting that his death was an irreparable loss.

The governor in a press statement, Friday in Kano, said: “It is with deepest sense of submission to Allah that I am relaying the condolences of the government and people of Kano state to the family, friends, political associates, and Nigerians, over the death of our own, Dr. Junaidu Muhammad.”

Ganduje said the deceased represented his constituency very well when he was a member of the House of Representatives in the Second Republic.

“Dr. Junaidu Muhammad is one of the federal legislators who didn’t mince words in taking the demands of his people to the federal legislature; very firm and eloquent while raising issues related to his constituency and his party.

“He proved his mettle when he was actively involved in politics. A firebrand, he was a true hero of the masses who believed in the welfare of the down trodden and the less-privileged ones he remarked,” the governor declared.

He further stated that Junaidu was a serious and committed democrat and a nationalist who believed in one Nigeria, adding that his patriotism was never doubted by anyone.

While praying for the repose of the soul of the late political icon, Ganduje also prayed God to give his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
