June 12: Bala empowers 1, 200 women, youth with N150m materials

To celebrate the June 12 Democracy Day, Governor Bala Mohammed Saturday empowered 1, 200 women and youth in Zaki and Gamawa local government areas with materials worth N150 million.

The programme tagged Kaura Economic Empowerment Programme (KEEP),according to the governor, was to ensure the welfare of the citizens.

He noted that his government has in the past two years embarked on several infrastructural projects across the state, adding that ‘it is now time for social welfare.’

The items distributed by the governor include motorcycles, cars, grinding machines and cash worth N150 million in the two local governments.

In her remarks, the First Lady of the state, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed, said the motorcycles distributed would help convey girls to schools, which she opined could increase girls’ enrollment into schools.

She also hoped that the empowerment program would reduce the rate of divorce in the state. She urged husbands to utilise the empowerment items to take care of their families.
