June 12: Empowered volunteers hail Buhari on social scheme

By Umar Bayo Abdulwahab Ilorin Beneficiaries of federal government social investment scheme- under the aegis of the N-power volunteers’ Forum in Kwara state have praised President Muhammu Buhari for declaration of June 12 as Democracy Day.
The Forum, in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Bello Salau and Secretary Salaudeen Abdulfatai, noted that the declaration of June 12 as “real Democracy Day will mark the beginning of a renewed Nigeria for all.” It read in part: “We want to sincerely appreciate the federal government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari on the pronouncement of June 12 as the new Democracy Day and the recognition of the assumed winner of the historic, freest and most credible election which took place on June 12, 1993, Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola (MKO), with the country’s Posthumous award Grande Commander of Federal Republic (GCFR) and the conferment on both Chief Gani Fawehinmi and Ambassador Baba Gana Kinginbe the honours of Grande Commander Ordinary Nigerian (GCON) to the fearless and tireless fighters for democracy.
We implore all lovers of democracy, political gladiators and stakeholder not to play politics with it as the step is long overdue.
“We wish that all Nigerians will see it as a right step in the right direction to strengthen our democracy.
We equally want to use this medium to thank Mr.
President for his tireless effort in taking this country to a greater height and projecting the good image of our dear country globally.” Continuing, it read: “It is our humble believe that His Excellency will remain steadfast, focused and fortify his fight against corruption, security and provision of more infrastructural facilities and human capital development to Nigerians.
“Finally, we thank Mr.
President for his good initiative on Nigeria Social Investment Program (N-SIP) in which a lot Nigerians are benefiting from.
This has greatly affected the lives of many youths through the N-Power programme, school feeding programme for school children and conditional cash transfer to mention but few.”
