JUSUN condemns Rivers court attack, wants culprits punished

President of Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Comrade Marwan Mustapha Adamu, has condemned last Friday attack on High Court complex in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital by unknown hoodlums.
The attack, according to the president, disrupted court proceedings and destroyed government properties. In a statement, Comrade Adamu described the act as barbaric and called on security agencies to bring the perpetrators to book to serve as deterrent. Marwan, who is also a member of the National Executive Council (NLC), further said the attack was uncalled for because the court room is for everyone.
“The National Secretariat of Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) condemn the attack of the High Court Complex, Port Harcourt by unknown hoodlums, disrupting court proceeding as well as destroying properties, causing chaos and rampage on Friday, 11th of May, 2018.
“The Union, vehemently frowns at such actions and calls on security operatives to ensure the perpetrators are brought to book to serve as deterrent to others. “We wish to also state that the court is open to all and so aggrieved persons or group of persons are to approach the courts in a civil manner where such matters could be filled and addressed rather than taking laws into their hands,” he said. Comrade Marwan further urged members of the union in the state to return to work today 14 as measures had been taken by the security agencies to arrest the situation.
