Kaduna Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), in collaboration with ZL Global Alliance Nigeria Limited, is to commence collection and management of wastes in the state from next week, Monday, November 27.
This was disclosed yesterday during a walk-to- sensitise residents on the enforcement of door to door waste and revenue collection in the state by the revenue agency.
ZL Global Alliance is a solid waste management company engaged by the state government as sole manager of domestic waste collection in Kaduna, Kafanchan and Zaria metropolitan areas of the state.
Addressing newsmen during the exercise, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ZL Global Alliance, Abiola Bashorun, said the exercise which went simultaneously across the headquarters of the three senatorial zones in the state, was necessitated by the need to
sensitise the residents of the state ahead of the commencement of the enforcement date.
The MD/CEO who spoke through the head of operations, Mrs Kate Ogenyi, noted that the door to door waste and revenue collection, which was launched in 2016 by the Kaduna state government, would now be enforced.
She said the jointly coordinated waste revenue collection was aimed to generate additional revenue for the state government in order to execute more people oriented projects across the state.
“Yes we are embarking on the road walk to create awareness on enforcement of door to door collection of waste and revenue and ZL Global Alliance is the key waste management company engaged by the state government to manage wastes in Kaduna, Kafanchan and Zaria and
that means, no private organisation or individual is permitted to collect any level or fee on behalf of the state government apart from the recognised key contractor in conjunction with Kaduna s
Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS).
“We are starting with highbrow areas like commercial centres where we have banks, hospitals, schools, filling station, markets, GRA and residential. It was officially launched last year but we are about to commence the enforcement,” she explained.
