Kaduna 2023: We’ll tackle insecurity through agric, technology – Ashiru

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate for Kaduna state, Hon. Isah Mohammed Ashiru, has pledged to tackle insecurity and use agriculture, technology and ICT to address unemployment if elected governor in 2023.

Addressing an interactive session with the political committee of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) at its state secretariat in Kaduna, Ashiru said his party’s public quietness is a strategy which bode well for them in sweeping 90% of the local government elections, adding that they would use it again to win the 2023 elections. He said his government would make security a cardinal point of his administration, adding that he would equally focus on education, agriculture, health services and women and youth empowerment.

“We have had it rough and we don’t intend to such a grievous mistake again. APC turned the hand of clock anticlockwise. The silence you heard from PDP is a strategy, that was why we won over 90% of the 225 wards in the local government elections. Things are working wonders for us and we took that as a strategy. Security will take priority; it would be a cardinal point of our administration. Drugs and narcotics are major agents of insecurity globally and this government is paying lip service to address the issue of drug menace, we would give it top priority.

Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Kaduna state chapter, Comrade Ayuba Magaji Suleiman said the interaction is not an interrogation of the governorship candidate but an interphase between labour movement and the governorship candidate to hear what he has for the people of Kaduna state.

“We have the intention of signing a charter of demand or memorandum of understanding. We invited five governorship candidates so far and we will work with any candidate that proved to us that he has the best programme for the welfare of workers.”
