Not less than 54 Fulani have been killed, while 15 others are missing in renewed crises in Adara, Kajuru local government area of Kaduna state, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has said. According to the herders, three days after they addressed the media over killing of four Fulani youths in the aftermath of a kidnapping incident in which both Fulani and Adara people were victims, the Fulani were attacked last Friday leaving 54 dead, 15 missing and over 500 displaced. Assistant National Secretary General of the association, Malam Ibrahim Abdullahi, who said this at the weekend in an interview, lamented that their call to security agencies to bring the culprits to justice went unheeded resulting in the killing of their people and destruction of their properties.

He said: “As at Friday, July 21, 2017, we have buried 54 corpses of Fulani attacked and killed by the Adara community in Kajuru local government. About 15 others are still missing. Th ousands of cows are still unaccounted for and over 500 displaced persons mostly women and children whose husband have either been killed or are missing are in Kajuru and Kasuwar Magani. “We have the full list of all the 54 killed and we are ready to take you to their graves.

You may also wish to visit those displaced to see their plight and deplorable condition. “Th e most amazing part of the whole drama is the deliberate distortion of facts and biased reporting from some of the media outlets who turned the narrative upside down by insinuating that Fulani are the aggressors, with the actual aggressors mischievously being portrayed as victims. Th is deliberate distortion and misrepresentation of facts makes us to suspect that there is a grand design and conspiracy to give a dog a bad name in order to hang it.

”MACBAN, who appealed to the media to stop the misrepresentation “because it will not help anybody,” urged security agencies to arrest perpetrators of the killings and bring them to book for peace to reign in the area. “Another dangerous aspect of this issue is the inability of security agencies to arrest those characters accused of perpetrating and masterminding the crisis. Th eir names have already been handed over to the security agencies but up till now they are still moving freely as if nothing happened at all. We call on security agencies to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice. We wish to call on our people to continue to exercise restrain as leaders have started consultation with a view to resolving the crisis.
