Kaduna Airport shut

Kaduna Airport was last night closed down following a fire incident that affected its control tower.
The fire incident is said to have occurred in the control tower, when personnel were working and only to be rushed out of the tower. A situation that led to all personnel escaped unhurt.

Announcing the closure of the airport, Mr. Yakubu Datti, spokesman of all aviation parasatals said, “The Kaduna airport has been temporary closed down following a minor fire incident at the control tower, which has since been brought under control with no casualties.A NOTAM has been issued following the prompt response of fire and rescue personnel at the airport.

“The NCAA, AIB, NAMA and other relevant agencies have since mobilized to site as investigation into the cause of the fire has commenced. The managing director of NAMA, Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam, has directed the immediate deployment of the agency’s mobile tower currently in Abuja to Kaduna airport to resume normal services by sunset, Monday 21, 2014.”
