Kaduna APC crisis deepens

The crisis ravaging the Kaduna state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is far from over as the state chairman of its Interim Management Committee, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, who resigned at the weekend has refused to reconsider his resignation.
Baba-Ahmed, who addressed a press conference in Kaduna, said the APC crisis in the state was in a state of a complete ‘paralysis’ that “can only be cured by the national leadership of the APC.”
He said the situation was unfortunate, stressing: “You are aware that I tendered my resignation to the state Interim Management Committee (IMC) of Kaduna state APC. I did so because it was the state IMC that elected me according to the guidelines of the national headquarters.
“The IMC informed me that they have met and rejected my resignation, the situation as we are, is, I am still standing by my resignation, the IMC has taken up the issue of my resignation, and my prayer is that we find amicable solution to the problem.”
He added that the IMC he formerly chaired had no hand in the registration of members in the state, adding that the IMC was working hard ahead of the exercise before his resignation.
“I remain a member of APC; I am loyal and pray that our leaders above the IMC will solve this problem so that our party will move on, because the situation we found ourselves is complete paralysis. We believe that if our national leadership was active we would not have been in this. We cannot claim to have enjoyed support from the national leadership.”
