Kaduna Assembly confirms Aruwan, 10 other commissioners


Kaduna State House of Assembly on Thursday confirmed immediate past spokesman of Governor Nasir el-Rufai, Samuel Aruwan and 10 other nominees, as commissioners and members of the state executive council.

The screening, which was supposed to assess the suitability of the nominees to handle their portfolios competently, saw the nominees asked by the lawmakers to take a bow and take their seat, without being asked any pointed question about how they planned to impact on the people’s lives as commissioners. 

Aruwan, the immediate past Senior Special Assistant to Governor el-Rufai, was confirmed as commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs.  

‎The first person to be  confirmed by the lawmakers was the immediate past commissioner for finance and former chief of staff to the Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Bashir Saidu. The lawmakers simply asked him to take a bow and go having served the state in various positions according to the Speaker Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon. Aminu Shagali.

The second person to be confirmed was the immediate past commissioner for education in the state, Alhaji ‎Jafaru Ibrahim Sani from Kubau local government area. He too took a bow without being asked any question.

Hajiya Hafsat Mohammed Baba was also confirmed as commissioner Ministry of Human Services and Social Development ‎by equally being asked to take a bow and go.

Others confirmed as commissioners‎ by the Kaduna Assembly were ‎Mohammed Shehu Usman Makarfi the immediate past permanent secretary Ministry of Health who was confirmed as Commissioner for Education .

Idris Samaila Nyam, Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology, Ibrahim Garba Hussaini Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.

Kabir Muhammad Mato Ministry of Sports Development, Balaraba Aliyu-Inuwa  Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure, Fausat Adebola Ibikunle Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and Aisha Dikko Ministry of Justice.
