Kaduna: Atiku in early lead, Obi trails 

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has won five of the eight local governments so far declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as Labour Party’s Peter Obi won the remaining three councils.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has yet to win any out of the eight local governments so far declared as at Monday morning. 

Results from 15 remaining local governments are being awaited even as the Kaduna state INEC collation center embarked on recess to resume at noon on Monday.   

Atiku won in Giwa, Makarfi, Kaduna South, Kauru and Lere local governments, while Obi won in Kaura, Jaba and Kajuru local governments. 

Atiku’s PDP polled 22,302 votes to emerge winner of Giwa local government, while APC polled 19,922 votes, NNPP won 3,114 votes and LP won 565 votes. PDP won Makarfi local government with 22,098 votes, APC polled 13,767 votes, NNPP polled 3,722 votes and LP won 354 votes.  

PDP polled 42,996 votes to win Kaduna South local government, APC was second with 29,596 votes, LP polled 22,577 votes, as NNPP scored 9,124 votes. PDP won Kauru local government with 19,018 votes, APC won 15,870 votes, LP  scored 11,293 votes, as NNPP got 3,128 votes.  

PDP also won Lere local government with PDP 34,149 votes, APC got 24,695 votes, LP scored 15,568 votes and NNPP won 7,264 votes. 

Labour Party won in Kaura local government with 25,744 votes, PDP was second with 7,847 votes, APC got 1,847 votes, and NNPP got 320 votes. LP won Jaba  local government with 9,967 votes, PDP got 8,798 votes, APC scored 3,131 votes and NNPP got 335 votes. 

Peter Obi’s LP scored 14,875 votes to win Kajuru local government, PDP won 9,253 votes, APC got 3,940 votes and NNPP won 1,221 votes.
