The instruction materials allocated to the state by the Federal Government through the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) include 1,015,523 textbooks in the core subjects such as English language, mathematics, social studies and basic science and technology.
Making the symbolic distribution of the textbooks to headmasters in Kaduna North and Kaduna South local government areas yesterday, Governor Mukhtar Yero, warned against the diversion of the books as anyone found wanting would face the wrath of the law.

The governor, who was represented by the state Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Ibrahim Ali, charged the Ministry of Education to always ensure that, all resources meant at providing enabling environment for effective teaching and learning at all levels of education are judiciously utilised.
He, however, directed the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to immediately embark on massive monitoring exercise to all schools to ensure that the books reached the pupils who are the end users.

He said: “For the benefit of doubt, I want to assure you that I will personally participate in the monitoring exercise. I want to also request that, all stakeholders indicate interest by assisting in the monitoring and give us regular feedback. Let me strongly warn that, anybody found diverting the books will face the full wrath of the law.”

Yero, therefore, urged education stakeholder like SBMCs, PTAs, Civil Society Organisations and NGOs to play their roles effectively in ensuring that the pupils enjoy the usage of the books.
Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary of SUBEB, Sambo Ibrahim, said the textbooks allocated to the state by federal government would go a long way in assisting to provide enabling environment for effective and efficient service delivery in the schools.
The textbooks would be distributed to all primary and junior secondary schools in the 23 local government areas of the state.
