The Managing Director/CEO of Kaduna Electric, Engr. Garba Haruna, has awarded scholarship to 10 best graduating students of Government Technical College, Farfaru, Sokoto state, while offering job to 20 others with diploma in technical disciplines.
Haruna, who made the announcement during the grand finale of activities commemorating the 61st anniversary of Government Technical College, Farfaru in Sokoto on Monday, said that the scholarship shall cover tuition fees and maintenance allowances for the students throughout their university education.
He also commissioned the woodwork department of the college to produce 300 tables and chairs, which shall be distributed to other secondary schools in need within the company’s four franchise states.
Engr. Garba also called on those honoured at the occasion to see the awards “as a call to greater national service” while appealing to the Old Boys to always support their alma mater.
Chairman of the occasion and Executive Chairman, Sokoto State Teaching Service Board, Alhaji Garba Bello Yabo, thanked Engr. Haruna for what he called his “abiding commitment to the development of education in the country” and called on other well to do members of the society to emulate him.
He charged the School’s authority to ensure judicious use of the facilities provided by the old boys.
The elated students presented plaque and furniture made by the students to Haruna as a token of appreciation for his support to the college in particular and other charitable support to less privileged members of the society.
