Kaduna Electric in crisis as workers protest delayed, incomplete salary

 
Workers of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (Kaduna Electric) on Tuesday embarked on work-to-rule strike to protest what they described as delayed and incomplete salary payment by the company. 


The workers, under the aegis of National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), barricaded the entry and exit gates of the company located close to New Nigerian Newspaper, vacating their offices and place of work, while the union officials hold emergency meeting with the management of the company. 


The workers said they were owed 24 months pension, and their salaries are neither paid in full nor paid regularly with the last payment bring 40% that they received on Monday, October 14th, 2019 for the month of September. 


Some of the placards carried by the protesters have inscriptions such as “We say NO to modern day Slavery”, ” Pay our Salary in Full, Timely”, “Pay our 2 Years Pension to PFA”.
The meeting between the NUEE officials and management of Kaduna Electric still ongoing.
