The Mobgal Fulbe Development Association in Kaduna state yesterday accused the Nigerian Army of violating rights of Ladduga community during the Sunday military operation in which over 20 Fulani youths were arrested for allegedly being in possession of dangerous weapons.
In a statement issued by its Secretary General, Ahmad Mairiga Yandeh, the association said it was an act of intimidation and unnecessary.
The statement said: “The Security operatives harassed people refusing them to pray their early morning prayers and those who were found in the mosque were arrested and others tortured including the district head, women and children. In the end, they arrested over 20 people without giving any reason for their arrest and without informing their family members where they are taking them to. This attitude is highly unprofessional and the association views this as an attempt to continue with the annihilation of the Fulbe of Ladduga.
“The association feels that this is a collaborative and calculative attempt to continue the annihilation of the Fulbe of Ludduga and southern Kaduna in general who are peaceful and law-abiding.”
As at the time of this report, the Army authorities in Kaduna at the 1 Division were yet to react.
