Kaduna health agency begins maternal child health week

Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KSPHCDA, Dr. Hadiza S. Balarabe, said that arrangements have been concluded for the implementation of the Maternal New Born and Child Health Week in the state. In a press statement signed by the Deputy Director of the Agency in-charge of the Health Education, Malam Hamza Ibrahim Ikara, said adequate arrangements had been put in place for the smooth conduct of the exercise which is scheduled to hold between July 17 and 21, 2017.

The statement further said that the Week was aimed at ensuring that pregnant women and children were provided with high impact, cost effective interventions that would boost their health and wellbeing. The statement said the interventions would be provided in 960 health facilities in the 23 local government areas of the state. The agency called on the parents, pregnant women, caregivers among others to make good use of the week to take part in the interventions with a view to achieving excellent health for women and children. The agency also called on the traditional rulers, religious leaders and other stakeholders to educate their followers on the importance of the week so as to achieve the desire results.
