Kaduna LG polls: Aspirant pledges skill acquisition

Kaduna North local government chairmanship aspirant, Comrade Mukhtar Baloni, has promised to prioritise skill acquisition by establishing community centres to serve as skills acquisition centres for the welfare of the youth and vulnerable persons.

He said the centers which will also house town hall and sport centers can be cited in the existing Primary Health Care Centers or stand alone structures to revive local sports and community spirit required for better social cohesion.

Comrade Baloni, who was the immediate vice chairman of the local government made the comment shortly after obtaining his form of intent to contest the chairmanship position of the LG under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said the centers, when constructed, will also serve as shelter for vulnerable members of the communities by allowing government to provide the much needed aid and services to them.

The aspirant noted that to complement the state government’s effort, he intends to champion the regular updating of the existing social register in collaboration with religious and traditional institutions to position them for much needed help from both government and nongovernmental organisations available locally and international.

He also said his leadership will look into the infrastructure, economic growth and job creation for youth and women, including the education sector. He added that Kaduna North as an urban LGA has enjoyed the immense benefits of the state government’s efforts in upgrading various components of its infrastructures.
